As one of the most famous cave systems in the United States, a visit to Luray

accident in 1878—imagine stumbling upon something so incredible! Later, in
1974, the National Park Service recognized its significance by naming it a
Registered Natural Landmark, honoring its importance to America’s natural
heritage.

Get ready to step into a magical underground world! Inside the caverns, you’ll
find:

• Towering rock formations glowing under soft lighting


• Stalactites hanging like icy chandeliers from above


• Massive stone columns rising from the ground

These incredible formations didn’t happen overnight—they’ve been forming over
millions of years, created drop by drop as mineral-rich water slowly seeped
through limestone. It’s like walking through nature’s artwork in slow motion! Simply
put, Luray Caverns is one of the most impressive natural wonders on the East
Coast—there’s no way you won’t be amazed.

While you’re there, the experience doesn’t stop underground. You’ll also have time to
explore the Car & Carriage Caravan Museum, a must-see for vehicle lovers.
With a collection on display featuring over 140 items related to
transportation.

To keep things relaxed and enjoyable, there will be rest stops throughout the day,
giving you time to stretch your legs and purchase lighter food & snacks.
