Dive into the beauty of fall with an unforgettable visit to Lehigh Valley—home to vibrant foliage and the beloved fall festival in historic Jim Thorpe.
Founded in 1818, this stunning destination was originally known as Mauch Chunk before being renamed in honor of legendary athlete Jim Thorpe. Today, the town combines the charm of a quaint European village with sweeping mountain views and endless outdoor adventures.
While Jim Thorpe is a delight year-round, its fall foliage is truly spectacular.
We’ll begin our visit with a scenic train ride—an ideal opportunity to relax and admire the dazzling golden leaves. The route winds through Lehigh Gorge Scenic Park along the river, offering plenty of “oooohs” and “ahhhhs.” The ride lasts approximately 45 minutes.
After the ride, you’ll be dropped off near the center of the village for lunch, free time, and the chance to enjoy the Jim Thorpe Fall Foliage Festival.
This annual celebration transforms the town into a lively autumn wonderland filled with live music, craft vendors, food stalls, and seasonal activities. You’ll have the rest of the day to explore at your own pace—browse shops, enjoy local cuisine, or simply take in the scenery. Visits to attractions such as the Asa Packer Mansion can be added at an additional cost; please inquire for details.
This excursion is the perfect way to experience the magic of fall without any strenuous hiking—just beautiful views, great food, and seasonal charm.
We’ll reconvene in the afternoon for your return transfer.
