Holidays in DC - A Day Trip to Washington DC with Afternoon Tea at The Willard
Join us for a day in DC! We'll enjoy seasonal attractions such as the holiday display at US Botanical Garden, local Christmas markets, high tea and the amazing holiday set up at the Intercontinental Willard.
A visit to our Capital city is always good - visiting during the holiday season is no exception. There is so much to see and exploring the sites with the glowing holiday tint over it may give you a completely new experience. The group will tour the center of Washington DC during this Christmas event along with their private guide. This is a great day out and about and the perfect way of getting into the festive holiday spirit.
The tour will start near Capitol Hill where guests will explore federal buildings such as the Capitol Building, Library of Congress, and the Supreme Court – all with a distinctive display of seasonal decorations.
From here the group will continue to the US Botanic Garden which is known for its stunning holiday display. Here guests will see plant-based sculptures of famous DC landmarks. The outdoor exhibition features a multilevel garden train that travels through the agricultural scenes from across the United States. After the visit to the Botanic Garden, the group will head for a well-deserved afternoon holiday Tea Break at the Intercontinental Willard.
This historic and elegant property located in the heart of Washington DC transforms into a holiday-inspired wonderland during the festive season. Washington DC Christmas events include a stunning display of holiday décor, music, and festive food & beverages fills the hotel. Another iconic feature is the Gingerbread display – with a replica of the actual property to visually enjoy.
Afternoon Christmas holiday tea at the Williard includes a luxury five tea bites, five pastries, two scones with lemon curd, Devonshire cream, raspberry, and apricot jam and a glass of Champagne.
Following the meal the group will head for a view of The National Christmas tree, this symbolic evergreen tree is in the northeast quadrant of the Ellipse near the White House. The tree is surrounded by 56 smaller trees representing the states and territories of the US. The tree is traditionally lit by the President and the first lady each year. This is one of DC’s most visited and well-known holiday attractions.
Pending time, the group may be able to visit some of the DC Holiday Markets where food items, handicrafts, jewelry, chocolates, etc. can be purchased. The group may also be able to get a glimpse of the National Menorah before departing. During the day of touring, there will be plenty of photo opportunities.

For the most immersive and educational experience, the tour will be a mixture of walking and touring onboard the vehicle. Stops may vary based on traffic and time on the day of touring. Final itinerary and order and which attractions are seen are at the guide’s discretion.
