Come join us for a beautiful day in historic Jim Thorpe!

Founded in 1818, this breathtaking area was originally known as Mauch Chunk before being renamed in honor of legendary athlete Jim Thorpe. The town blends the charm of a quaint European village with mountain vistas and exciting outdoor adventures.

We’ll begin our visit with a scenic train ride—an ideal way to sit back, relax, and take in the stunning surroundings. The route travels through the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Park along the river, offering plenty of opportunities for “oooohs” and “ahhhhs.” The ride lasts approximately 70 minutes.

Afterward, you’ll be dropped off near the center of the village for lunch and free time. You’re welcome to spend the rest of the day exploring on your own—there’s no shortage of shops, restaurants, and beautiful sights. If you prefer, you can also join an optional visit to the Asa Packer Mansion (additional cost).

Asa Packer Mansion
This distinctive and iconic mansion, built in 1861 by Philadelphia architect Samuel Sloan, is one of the most beloved historic homes in the area. It served as the residence of Asa Packer—philanthropist, railroad magnate, and founder of Lehigh University. The threestory mansion features 18 richly preserved rooms, many of which you’ll explore during the 30–45-minute guided tour.
At the end of the day, our coach will pick up all guests at the agreed meeting time and location for the return trip.
